Payroll Upgrade 2010 – Advance Information
Phase One of the 2010 Payroll Upgrade project covers the legislative changes required to complete the 2009/10 Tax Year, including P14/P60s and End of Year returns via the Online Filing Manager to the Government Gateway. Phase Two would cover any changes resulting from the Budget which are normally implemented in May.
This applies to Opera II only as there will be NO Payroll update for Opera 16 this year. If you still use Opera 16 Payroll Please contact us for options.
New for 2010
In addition to the legislative changes, the upgrades will include the following enhancements and new functionality as detailed below:-
Options for printing P14 & P60 Returns – Opera II Improvements have been made to the different options to print P14 End of Year Summaries and P60 End of Year Certificates, making it easier to understand which stationery should be used with each option. The Partner Payroll Release and Upgrade Guide includes a table of stationery options available for P14s and P60s.
Printing the P35 Employer Annual Return – Opera II For Employers who wish to print their P35 information for reference, the Print P35 Substitute option in EOY/Special Reports includes the following changes:
- A new P35 (CS) Substitute Laser – Pre-printed report designed for laser A4 stationery has been added. This report is designed to be printed on form INF-035L supplied by Pegasus Business Forms
- The P35 (CS) substitute five-column report, renamed to P35 (CS) Sub 5 Col. Pre-2009/10 designed for continuous dot-matrix stationery must not be used as HMRC changed the design to a three-column report in an earlier tax year
State Pension Age Changes – Opera II Between 2010 and 2046 the state pension age for both men and women will gradually increase. Currently the state pension age for women born on or before 5 April 1950 is 60. From the 2010-11 tax year Payroll warning messages will inform the user that a female employee is over the age of 60, rather than is over the state pension age. This is because their entitlement to state pension is dependant on the day of the month in which they were born, and could mean that the earliest date that an employee starts to receive their state pension may not fall on their birthday.
P32 Processing – Opera II A new option P32 by Income Tax Month has been added to the Payroll – Set Options form for the default Group. Introduction of this option complies with a change introduced into the HMRC Payroll Standard regarding SSP Recovery which uses weekly pay periods as opposed to monthly. This will ensure that the SSP Recovery figure will be presented in the correct income tax month and is dependant on the usual pay date of the weekly payroll, rather than rigidly conforming to the paper P32 form.
To-Date Form – Opera II Normally the information in the To-Date form held against an employee record is system generated. Should a user open this form to view information they could inadvertently change the data. Should a change be made, a warning message has been added to the To-Date form upon closure, asking the user to validate any changes.
PEG220 payslip design – Opera II The PEG220 laser mailer design has been modified to properly fit the payslip stationery as previously some of the detail on the payslip did not exactly fit. This report design (lfwgrp1c.frx) will be replaced when Opera II is upgraded. If the report was previously modified to fit the PEG220 laser mailer or another stationery design a copy should be taken before upgrading. Pegasus forms can be ordered from Angel at discounted prices.
